The Chosen Season 6 premieres on Sunday, November 15, 2026, on Prime Video, with episodes 1 to 3 arriving together. Episode 4 follows on November 22, episode 5 on November 29 and episode 6 on December 6. The season then ends with a stand-alone finale film in theaters on March 12, 2027. If you are behind, you can still watch Seasons 1 to 5 free and legally on The Chosen's own app and website, or on BYUtv, before the new season starts.

That is the short version. Below is the full schedule, what it costs to watch Season 6 at launch, when it is likely to become free, a realistic catch-up plan for the three weeks left, and what parents should know before a season that covers the crucifixion.

The Chosen Season 6 release schedule

  • Episodes 1, 2 and 3: Sunday, November 15, 2026 (Prime Video)
  • Episode 4: Sunday, November 22, 2026 (Prime Video)
  • Episode 5: Sunday, November 29, 2026 (Prime Video)
  • Episode 6: Sunday, December 6, 2026 (Prime Video)
  • Season finale film: Friday, March 12, 2027 (theaters)

Episodes 4 to 6 land on the Sundays of Thanksgiving weekend and the first two weeks of Advent, so a family that wants to watch together can plan around those dates now. The dates come from the release schedule published by Decider on October 22, 2026 and match the show's Wikipedia entry. If anything moves, check The Chosen's official site before you plan a watch night.

What Season 6 covers

Season 5 ended on the night of the Last Supper, with Judas betraying Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. Season 6 picks up from there and covers a single day. Amazon's official synopsis describes "Jesus' final day through the lives of those who love Him, and those who condemn Him", ending at the cross. In other words: the arrest, the trials before the religious authorities and Pilate, and the crucifixion, told through the disciples, Mary Magdalene, the Pharisees and the Romans the series has followed since 2019.

According to production reports, filming began in April 2025, partly in Goshen, Utah, and the crucifixion scenes were shot in Matera, Italy, the same southern Italian town used for The Passion of the Christ. The seventh and final season finished filming in September 2026 and is expected in 2028, so Season 6 is the last new chapter for a while.

Where to watch Season 6, and what it costs

At launch, Season 6 streams only on Prime Video, which means you need an Amazon Prime membership or a standalone Prime Video subscription. As of October 2026, Prime costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year in the US, and Amazon usually offers new members a 30-day free trial. Prices and trial terms change, so check them on Amazon before you sign up.

Will Season 6 become free? Very likely, but not on November 15. Since 2025, The Chosen has worked with Amazon MGM Studios under a deal covering Seasons 5, 6 and 7. For Season 5, that meant a 90-day exclusive window on Prime Video, after which the episodes were made free on The Chosen's own platforms. If Season 6 follows the same pattern, a free release would come about three months after the Prime run, but no free date has been announced yet. We will add it to our The Chosen page once it is.

How to watch Seasons 1 to 5 free and legally

You do not need a subscription to catch up. These are the legal free options right now:

  • The Chosen app and website. The show's official watch site says every released episode is free to watch there, in its phone apps and on smart TV apps. The app also carries free extras such as behind-the-scenes features and Bible roundtables with a Messianic Jewish rabbi, a Catholic priest and an evangelical professor.
  • BYUtv. BYUtv streams all five seasons free. You need to create a free account and sign in, and BYUtv lists the series as TV-PG.
  • Prime Video. Earlier seasons are also on Prime Video if you already subscribe, which is handy if you want everything in one app for Season 6.

The Chosen is free because it is funded by viewers and its distribution deals, not because someone uploaded it without permission. Full episodes on random YouTube channels are not from the show and often disappear or carry other people's ads, so stick to the official sources above. Our guide to watching Christian movies free and legally explains how to tell the difference for other titles too.

A catch-up plan for the next three weeks

Five seasons add up to around 40 episodes, most of them close to an hour long. That is too much for most families to finish before November 15, so pick the plan that fits your time.

  • If you have about 8 hours: watch Season 5. Its eight episodes run from Jesus' entry into Jerusalem to the Last Supper (Entry, House of Cards, Woes, The Same Coin, Because of Me, Reunions, and The Upper Room Parts I and II) and lead straight into Season 6. On BYUtv they add up to about 7 hours 40 minutes, so two episodes on each of four evenings gets you there.
  • If you have a weekend: add Season 1, Episode 1, "I Have Called You By Name". It introduces Simon Peter and Mary Magdalene, two of the people Season 6 follows most closely, and shows why the show's fans care about them so much.
  • If you have the full three weeks: about two episodes a day gets a dedicated viewer through all five seasons by mid-November. For most households that is a stretch, so do not feel you have failed if you jump in with Season 5.

What parents should know

Earlier seasons are rated TV-PG, and most of the show is dialogue-driven family drama with some light humor. Season 6 is different in subject. News coverage of the October trailer describes it as showing Jesus' final hours and the road to the crucifixion, and the season ends at the cross. An official rating for Season 6 had not been published when we wrote this, so we cannot yet say how graphic the crucifixion scenes will be.

Our advice: if children under about 10 will be watching, a parent should watch each episode first and be ready to pause and talk. The Chosen has generally shown suffering with restraint, and it is not expected to match the R-rated intensity of The Passion of the Christ, but a crucifixion is never gentle. For younger children, reading the Holy Week chapters of the Gospels aloud alongside the show helps them follow the story without needing to see every scene.

Is The Chosen biblically accurate?

The show's own FAQ answers this honestly: it is based on the Gospels, but some locations and timelines are combined or condensed, and backstories, characters and dialogue are added. The creators encourage viewers to read the Gospel accounts themselves, which is good advice for Season 6, since all four Gospels describe the arrest, the trials and the crucifixion in detail. Our article on how accurate Bible movies really are looks at where dramatized films usually take liberties, and why The Chosen changed Christian entertainment covers how a crowdfunded series reached this point.

Watching it at church or with a small group

Some churches are planning watch nights for the premiere, and a few have announced advance screenings. If your church wants to show episodes to a group, remember that a public screening needs a performance licence, even when admission is free. Streaming an episode from someone's personal Prime account in a church hall is not the same as a licensed event. Our guide to hosting a church movie night explains how licensing works in the US. A small group watching together in someone's home is a private viewing and needs no licence.

Watch the official trailer

The official Season 6 trailer is on The Chosen's own YouTube channel. Because it shows the build-up to the crucifixion, preview it before showing it to young children.

What to watch after Season 6

The finale will not reach theaters until March 2027, and Season 7 is not due until 2028. To follow the story past the cross in the meantime, Risen (2016) tells the days after the resurrection through the eyes of a Roman tribune, and The Gospel of John (2003) uses the Gospel text word for word. Our Easter movie watch list has more for Holy Week next spring.
